Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Addresses Neglected Hospitals, Announces Renovation Plans

Addressing the critical state of healthcare and education in Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani has announced plans to renovate six general hospitals in the first phase of a comprehensive overhaul.

During an address to stakeholders from the 23 local government areas of the state, Governor Sani revealed that the 32 general hospitals in Kaduna have not been renovated in the last 20 years.

This neglect has forced many residents to seek medical services in neighboring states, highlighting a significant gap in the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

To tackle this issue, Governor Sani has outlined a strategic plan to remodel, reconstruct, and reequip six of these general hospitals, two from each of the three senatorial zones.

This initiative aims to improve healthcare delivery and address the infrastructural challenges faced by the state’s healthcare system.

In addition to healthcare, Governor Sani also highlighted the security risks faced by over 1,500 schools in the eight frontline local government areas due to a lack of proper fencing.

As part of the efforts to implement the Safe School Initiative, two Kaduna-based business moguls, Alhaji Adamu Atta of Fifth Chucker and Alhaji Bukar Shettima of Barbados, have committed to building fences for 100 schools.

Governor Sani emphasized the importance of public safety and education alongside healthcare, stating that these partnerships reflect the state government’s holistic approach to governance.

The goal is to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for future generations.

In his words, Governor Sani stated, “One of the major areas of focus of our government is healthcare. In the last one month, I have received reports that our 32 general hospitals in Kaduna are not functional.

Because of that, most of the patients from Kaduna have to travel to some neighboring states for medical attention. This is unacceptable.”

The announcement of the renovation plans and the support from local business leaders signals a new era of progress and development for Kaduna State, as Governor Uba Sani works towards improving the state’s healthcare and education infrastructure.
