Governor Oborevwori Urges Federal Government to Revitalize Refineries

Delta State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on the federal government to expedite action in revitalizing the nation’s refineries.

He made this appeal during a visit from the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Turnaround Maintenance of Nigerian Refineries, led by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, at the Government House in Asaba.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized the importance of making refineries in Nigeria functional again, stating that it would save the country from foreign exchange for fuel importation.

He believes that reducing the pressure on the naira against the dollar would greatly benefit the nation’s economy.

The Governor praised the ad-hoc committee for their oversight function and expressed confidence in their ability to carry out their duties effectively.

He pledged the full support of the Delta State government in aiding the committee’s work, emphasizing the importance of their assignment in boosting the nation’s economy.

Senator Ubah, the chairman of the ad-hoc committee, stated that their visit to Delta State was part of their oversight function to assess the rehabilitation of the nation’s refineries, address issues related to crude oil theft, and maximize the output of the country’s crude oil.

The committee also aims to support issues concerning upstream, downstream, and Niger Delta affairs, as well as host communities in the Niger Delta.

The collaboration between the federal government and the Delta State government in revitalizing the refineries highlights the importance of working together to address the challenges faced by the nation’s oil industry.

It is hoped that the efforts of the ad-hoc committee, along with the support of the Delta State government, will lead to the successful rehabilitation of the refineries and contribute to the overall growth of the Nigerian economy.
