Governor Nwifuru Advises New Supreme Court Judge to Steer Clear of Corrupt Politicians

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State advised Justice Obande Ogbuinya, the newly appointed Supreme Court Judge, to be mindful of corrupt politicians in the discharge of his duties.

This counsel was given during a Thanksgiving Mass organized by Ogbuinya to celebrate his recent elevation to the apex court, which took place at Umuogudu-Akpu Ngbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Nwifuru’s advice to the new Supreme Court Judge comes at a time when the nation’s judiciary is being looked upon to uphold its role as the last hope of the common man.

The governor emphasized the importance of judicial independence and the need for judges to be shielded from the influence of corrupt politicians.

He urged Justice Ogbuinya to steer clear of such individuals to preserve the integrity of the judicial system.

“I charge you, the newly elevated Justice Ogbuinya, to steer clear of corrupt politicians. Don’t allow the politicians to destroy you,” Governor Nwifuru said.

In addition to his advice on maintaining judicial integrity, Governor Nwifuru also called for adequate funding of the judiciary.

He pointed out that without proper funding, the dispensation of justice would be adversely affected.

He advocated for increased remuneration for judges to ensure an effective justice delivery system.

Justice Ogbuinya expressed his gratitude to Governor Nwifuru for celebrating with him and assured the governor of his commitment to promoting the nation’s judicial system.

The event was attended by notable figures, including the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, and the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ossai, representing Governor Peter Mbah.

As the nation’s judiciary remains under the spotlight, Governor Nwifuru’s advice serves as a reminder of the importance of judicial independence and the need for judges to remain vigilant against corrupt influences.
