Governor Fubara of Rivers State Vows to Resist Political Pressure

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged that his administration will remain steadfast and not yield to the demands of self-serving politicians.

The governor made this declaration during a meeting with a delegation from the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Governor Fubara, represented by his Deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, emphasized the state government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its citizens and delivering exemplary governance.

This comes amid ongoing political challenges and power struggles with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, and Wike’s allies.

The ANAN delegation, led by Dr. James Ekerare Neminebor, the 13th National President of ANAN, visited the state to hold their Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) program.

Governor Fubara highlighted the significance of their choice of Rivers State for the event, pointing to the state’s safe and conducive environment for national and international gatherings.

In his address, Governor Fubara urged ANAN to continue promoting excellence in financial reporting and practices across the nation.

He stressed the importance of consistency in professional financial conduct to institutionalize best practices, due diligence, and transparency in governance, aligning with his administration’s goals to uphold integrity in public service.

Dr. Neminebor, in his response, stated that the visit was a show of solidarity to Governor Fubara, a fellow of the Association.

He emphasized that ANAN is a body of 55,000 members with 44 branches across Nigeria, recognized as one of the top institutes for practicing accountants.

Governor Fubara’s unwavering commitment to resisting political pressure and prioritizing the welfare of Rivers State citizens marks a significant step towards promoting good governance and transparency in Nigeria.

This development is a testament to the governor’s determination to serve the people and resist external influences that may hinder the state’s progress.
