Governor Aiyedatiwa Commends Tinubu for Peaceful Ondo APC Primary, Emerges Victorious

Governor Oluwarotimi Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the peaceful environment that enabled the successful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in the state.

The primary took place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Aiyedatiwa, who emerged as the APC candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election, praised President Tinubu for his role in ensuring the primary was conducted smoothly.

He also thanked the national and state working committee of the party for their efforts in ensuring the best candidate emerged as the party’s standard bearer.

Usman Ododo, the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee for Ondo State and Governor of Kogi, declared Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the primary.

Aiyedatiwa secured 48,569 votes, defeating his closest rival, Mayowa Akinfolarin, who received 15,343 votes out of the 95,178 valid votes.

Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the sportsmanship of other contestants and called on them to join hands with him in ensuring the party’s victory in the November election.

He emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among party members, stating that this is not the time to hold grudges but to work together to maintain the party’s power in the state.

This development comes as a significant milestone for the APC in Ondo State, as the party prepares for the gubernatorial election in November.

The successful and peaceful conduct of the primary is a testament to the commitment of party leaders and members to the democratic process and the advancement of the state.

As the APC gears up for the gubernatorial election, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the primary and his call for unity among party members will be crucial in ensuring a strong and united front against opposition parties.
