Former Imo State Governor Ihedioha Resigns from PDP, Citing Ideological Differences

Emeka Ihedioha, the former governor of Imo State, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The announcement came through a resignation letter addressed to the chairman of his constituency, Mbutu Ward, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

In the letter, Ihedioha expressed his deep-rooted dedication to the advancement of democracy and good governance in Nigeria, despite his decision to part ways with the party.

Having been a member of the PDP since its inception in 1998, Ihedioha highlighted his significant contributions to the growth and evolution of the party over the years.

He pointed out the party’s historical commitment to internal reforms and providing credible leadership both in and out of power.

However, Ihedioha expressed his concerns over recent developments within the PDP, stating that the party has deviated from its core principles.

According to Ihedioha, the PDP has been unable to enact internal reforms, uphold its own regulations, and effectively oppose the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He mentioned that despite his efforts to offer counsel, the party has failed to address these issues.

“Regrettably, in recent times, the party has taken on a path that is at variance with my personal beliefs,” said Ihedioha in his letter.

“Despite my attempt to offer counsel, the party is, sadly, no longer able to carry out internal reforms, enforce its own rules, or offer credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress.”

In light of these developments, Ihedioha decided to tender his resignation from the PDP.

He emphasized that while this decision was difficult, he believes it is the right one.

Ihedioha has assured the public that he will continue to be available to offer his services towards the deepening of democracy and good governance in Nigeria.

This news has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian political landscape, as Ihedioha was a prominent figure within the PDP.

His resignation raises questions about the future of the party and its ability to maintain unity among its members.

The political landscape in Nigeria is constantly evolving, with the country facing numerous challenges in its quest for good governance and development.

The resignation of a high-profile figure like Emeka Ihedioha from the PDP is a significant event that will undoubtedly have an impact on the political dynamics in the country.

As the nation moves forward, it remains to be seen how the PDP will respond to this development and whether it will be able to address the concerns raised by Ihedioha.

In the meantime, the focus should remain on the advancement of democracy and good governance in Nigeria, as the country strives to overcome its challenges and achieve its full potential.
