Fayose Responds to Afe Babalola’s Criticism of Former Ekiti Governors

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has reacted to the criticism made by legal luminary Afe Babalola (SAN) regarding the performance of past governors in the state.

Babalola had stated that all former governors of the state, including Fayose, had failed to develop the state.

In an interview with Premium Times on Tuesday, Fayose rejected Babalola’s claims, stating that all past governors of the state had done their best and contributed to the development of Ekiti.

However, he maintained that he respects Afe Babalola as a leader and would not want to join issues with him.

Fayose also expressed the belief that Babalola may have been misquoted, citing the senior lawyer’s praise for him in 2018 when he described Fayose as a patriot to not only Ekiti State and the Yoruba race but also to Nigeria.

The former governor emphasized that every leader, including Babalola himself, is trying their best to achieve good things but cannot possibly complete every task.

He added that Governor Adebayo and Governor Fayemi, his predecessors, also did their best during their respective tenures.

While acknowledging the achievements of his predecessors, Fayose stands by his belief that all past governors of the state have contributed to its development in their unique ways.
