Electric Poles Collapse in Ogun State Due to Heavy Rainfall

A man in the Sango Ota area of Ogun State has raised alarm over the collapse of electric poles following a heavy rainfall on April 21, 2024.

The incident has caused significant concern among residents, as the fallen electric poles and scattered wires pose a serious hazard to both motorists and pedestrians.

The video capturing this alarming incident has been circulating on social media, showcasing the extent of the damage caused by the rainfall.

The eyewitness who filmed the incident expressed his worries in Yoruba, stating that it might take several weeks for the fallen poles to be fixed.

In a similar incident, streets in the Oloke and Aseese communities in the Ibafo axis of Ogun State were submerged in floodwaters due to the heavy downpour.

One Oladele Agboola, a resident of Wazobia Street in the Aseese community, attributed the flood to the heavy rainfall and expressed disappointment over the lack of action from the state government.

The Wazobia Community Development Association has been actively seeking assistance from the commissioner’s office to address the issue of the flooding.

The Ogun State government has yet to release an official statement regarding the collapsed electric poles and the flooding in the affected areas.

However, residents are hopeful that the state government will take prompt action to address the issues and prevent any further damage or inconvenience to the local communities.
