El-Rufai Urges Tinubu to Sack Non-Performing Appointees, Revise Policies

Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has advised President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against non-performing appointees and review his policies for better results. El-Rufai made these remarks during a conversation with newsmen in Maiduguri on April 16, 2024.

El-Rufai urged President Tinubu to be open to replacing any appointees who fail to deliver on their mandate, emphasizing the importance of humility in making such decisions.

“You appointed a person into a position and he is not working according to the expectation, you should have the humility to tell him that I need a better person, go and do something else,” said El-Rufai.

The former governor also called on citizens to support the administration and offer prayers for the President and his team, emphasizing the role of divine guidance in effective governance.

“What we must do as citizens is to pray for our leaders for God to guide them to see or do what is right.

For God to give them the humility to reverse themselves when necessary and do the right thing; that is how society progresses,” El-Rufai added.

President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, has been working to fulfill his campaign promises and address the various challenges facing Nigeria.

El-Rufai’s advice highlights the importance of adaptability and accountability in governance, urging the President to be open to revising his policies and personnel decisions when necessary.

As the President and his administration work towards achieving their goals, El-Rufai’s call for citizen support and prayers serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility of all Nigerians in ensuring the success of their leaders and the progress of the nation.
