Ekiti State Governor Inaugurates Agro Marshals to Protect Farmlands, Schools, and Palaces

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State inaugurated the Ekiti Agro Marshals on Tuesday.
This initiative aims to protect farmlands, schools, and palaces across the state, ensuring a safer environment for farming and education to thrive, thereby boosting food security.
Governor Oyebanji emphasized that the Agro Marshals are designed to complement the efforts of the police and other security agencies in the war against criminality in the state.
He explained that the establishment of this local security outfit was in response to the president’s directive to governors to set up a special guard to protect farmlands and forests, as well as suggestions from the security council and traditional rulers in the state.
The governor highlighted the importance of securing agricultural resources, educational institutions, and cultural heritage sites to ensure sustainable development and communal harmony.
He expressed his confidence that, with the right collaboration between the Marshals and other security agencies, Ekiti will become the safest place in the country.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the state, local government, and the traditional institution to safeguard the lives of farmers and enhance safety on the farms, leading to increased food production and food security.
Governor Oyebanji charged the Marshals not to violate the fundamental human rights of citizens but to discharge their duties diligently within the confines of the constitution of the country.
Commander of the Marshals, Rtd. ACP Olamide Oni, commended the Governor for ensuring that the people of the state can sleep with their two eyes closed.
He assured the governor that the state would henceforth experience peace on the various farmlands and forests, having trained the Marshals on the requirements for carrying out their duties effectively and efficiently.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the Council of Traditional rulers, Oba Ilori Faboro, on behalf of all royal fathers in the state, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his efforts in ensuring that Ekiti remains the safest state in the country.
He also assured the governor that royal fathers in the state would provide necessary support to the marshals.
