Ekiti Revenue Service Advocates for Central Billing System Adoption by Banks

The Ekiti State Revenue Service (EKIRS) has called for the adoption of a Central Billing System by banks and Remita to improve the state’s revenue generation and ensure transparency in the process.

During an interactive session with financial institutions in Ado-Ekiti, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service, Pastor Olaniran Olatona, emphasized the need for banks to integrate with the State Central Billing System.

The system is designed to facilitate seamless tax payments, enable payment tracking, and foster smoother business transactions with the state government.

According to Olatona, the adoption of the Central Billing System will help in mitigating leakages and boosting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

He also mentioned that the service is currently in talks with consultants to implement USSD payment options, ensuring accessibility for all taxpayers.

Yusuf Oluwarotimi Azeem, the Regional General Manager of Soft Alliance and Resources Ltd, supported this view and stated that collaborating with the Ekiti Internal Revenue Service aligns with international standards.

He highlighted that digital payment software is designed to strengthen revenue streams and offer unparalleled convenience to taxpayers.

The Central Billing System is set to revolutionize the way tax payments are made in the state, making the process more efficient, transparent, and convenient for all parties involved.

By adopting this system, the Ekiti State Revenue Service aims to improve its revenue generation and create a more conducive business environment for taxpayers.
