Danfodiyo University Set for Grand Convocation: 22,934 Graduates and Ribadu’s Keynote Speech

In a momentous occasion for Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), a grand combined convocation is scheduled to celebrate the academic achievements of 22,932 students on Saturday.

This event marks a significant milestone for the institution, with 167 students set to receive first class honors.

The ceremony will also feature a keynote speech by the national security adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, addressing the pressing issue of “Navigation the Maze: Addressing Multi-Dimensional Insecurity Challenges in Northern Nigeria.”

The combined convocation, which spans the 38th to 41st ceremonies, will see Ribadu deliver his lecture on Thursday as part of the activities lined up for the grand finale.

As the nation’s security adviser, Ribadu’s insights into the complex security challenges facing Northern Nigeria are highly anticipated, promising a thought-provoking discourse on this critical issue.

Vice Chancellor Professor Lawal Bilbis announced that the university will present a total of 22,932 graduating students, with 18,644 receiving various Bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, and certificates.

Among these, 18,217 students will receive Bachelor’s Degrees, and 427 will receive Diplomas and Certificates.

The remaining 4,288 students will be awarded various certificates of higher degrees and postgraduate diplomas.

This includes 296 doctoral degrees, 1,322 masters degrees, and 2,670 postgraduate diplomas.

In addition to the academic achievements, the university will also recognize outstanding performance with prizes for excellence in various disciplines.

The graduating class comprises 167 first class graduates, 3,486 second class upper graduates, 9,573 second class lower graduates, and 15 pass degree graduates.

An additional 1,199 students from specialized programs such as Veterinary Medicine, MBBS, and Nursing will also be recognized, though their degrees are not classified in the aforementioned categories.

As part of the ceremony, the university is processing honorary degrees for selected personalities and professor emeritus.

A press statement will be issued once the process is completed, highlighting the contributions of these distinguished individuals to their respective fields.

With the combined convocation set to celebrate the achievements of thousands of students and feature a keynote address by a prominent national figure, the event promises to be a memorable occasion for UDUS and the community it serves.
