Customs Seize Fake Pharmaceuticals Worth N1.7 Billion in Oyo/Osun

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted fake pharmaceuticals worth over N1.7 billion in the Oyo/Osun command.

The seized items, concealed in 53 sacks, included Augmentin tablets, Ampiclox, and Amoxycillin capsules.

At a recent press conference, the Area Controller, Mr. Ben Oramalugo, emphasized the success of the operation, which was made possible by the vigilance and commitment of the officers and the support of local communities.

During the period covering February 1 through 27, 2024, the command collected a total of N5.6 billion (N5,664,295,751.15).

When added to the sum of N6,824,954,338.96 already collected for January 2024, the cumulative sum of about N12.4 billion (N12,489,250,090.11) has been collected so far for the 2024 fiscal year.

In addition to the fake pharmaceuticals, the command has seized other contraband items, including 345 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice, 4 kilograms of Indian Hemp, 1,309 pieces of used tires, premium motor spirit, foreign vegetable oil, used items of clothing, and more.

The successful interception of these items highlights the dedication of the Nigeria Customs Service in combating illicit activities and protecting the health and well-being of its citizens.
