Customs Seeks Collective War Against Trans-border Crimes: Strengthening Inter-Agency Collaboration in Kwara State

The controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kwara Area Command, Faith Ojeifo, has called for a stronger inter-agency collaboration among security agencies in the state.

During his visits to various security agencies in the state, including the Nigerian Army (NA), Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Service (DSS), and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ojeifo emphasized the importance of working together to tackle issues such as banditry, smuggling, and other trans-border crimes.

At the headquarters of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Nigeria Army, Sobi Cantonment Ilorin, Ojeifo sought the cooperation of the army in curbing trans-border crimes in the state.

He highlighted the recent collaboration between his agency and the Nigerian Army and expressed his desire to further strengthen the existing relationship.

In response, Brigadier-General A. A Babalola assured Ojeifo of the Nigerian Army’s continued support in tackling trans-border crimes, banditry, and other security challenges in the state.

Ojeifo also paid a visit to the emir of Ilorin and chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, to seek royal blessings.

The emir welcomed the controller in his palace and thanked him for identifying the traditional institution as an important partner in maintaining peace and security in the state.

The monarch also expressed his appreciation for Ojeifo’s visit and assured him that Kwara State is one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.

He encouraged the controller to feel at home and promised the support of the traditional institution in the fight against trans-border crimes.
