CJN, Fubara, Others Eulogise Mary Odili: A Celebration of Outstanding Leadership in the Legal Profession

Nigeria, the outgoing chairman of the Body of Benchers, Hon. Justice Mary Odili, received heartfelt praise and recognition from prominent figures such as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.

The event, which took place on March 23, 2024, celebrated the outstanding leadership and contributions of Justice Odili to the legal profession.

The CJN lauded Justice Odili’s remarkable tenure as chairman, highlighting her dedication to duty, untiring efforts to raise the integrity of the legal profession, and effective leadership.

He commended her intellectual credentials and sterling contributions during her tenure, noting that her accomplishments have left a lasting impact on the Body of Benchers.

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, described Justice Odili as a seasoned jurist whose outstanding career in the bench reflected the discipline and intellectual hard work she brought to bear while serving.

He emphasized that her accomplishments were a result of her dedication and commitment to duty.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, who was represented by Amb. Humphrey Orjiakor, congratulated Justice Mary Odili for a successful tenure and described her as a great woman whose contributions to the growth and development of the Bench and the Bar were unquestionable.

President of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, praised Justice Odili for her remarkable one-year tenure, which was not only successful but also a millennium of good working relationships with the bench and the bar.

Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), the incoming chairman of the Body of Benchers, acknowledged the big shoes left by his predecessor and praised her sterling qualities and creativity in managing the affairs of the body. He pledged to maintain the high standards set by Justice Odili.

The event also featured a heartwarming speech from Dr. Adaeze Oreh, the first daughter of Justice Mary Odili, who described her mother as a calm, intelligent, humble, and caring person. She thanked everyone who attended the event to honor her mother.

The high point of the celebration was the presentation of an award and medal to the outgoing chairman by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Justice Odili served as the chairman of the Body of Benchers from April 2023 to March 2024.

The event served as a testament to the outstanding leadership of Justice Mary Odili and her significant contributions to the legal profession in Nigeria.
