Civil Society Leaders Demand Hardship Solution from President Tinubu

The United Action Front of the Civil Society, a coalition of citizens groups and civil society leaders, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the hunger and hardship crisis in Nigeria or risk losing support in the 2027 elections.

The group criticized President Tinubu’s comments in Lagos, while commissioning the red line, that if Labour is interested in the electoral process, they should meet him in 2027 and that Labour is not the only voice of the people.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Mallam Hamisu San Turaki, the group stated that President Tinubu’s remarks were “delusional and malicious” against the pro-people Labour Movement operating in Nigeria’s open society.

The statement further emphasized that if the hunger and hardship in the country is allowed to persist and fester, the masses of the Nigerian people will have no choice but to storm and occupy the Aso Presidential Villa and all other Government Houses in Nigeria within the next few weeks.

The group advised the Tinubu Government to see the NLC and organized bodies of the open society of Nigeria as partners in progress rather than enemies of government.

They should be commended and encouraged for providing an organized and peaceful voice to the pervasive anger and disenchantment in the land.

The United Action Front stressed that alternative voices, if not allowed to vent, could be more ruthless and disruptive, and history has proven that those who “make peaceful change impossible in history make violent change inevitable.”

As the country faces these challenges, it remains to be seen how President Tinubu and his administration will respond to the demands of the Civil Society Leaders and work towards a resolution that benefits all.
