Benue APC Caucus Denies Factionalization, Affirms Akume as Leader

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly caucus in Benue State has strongly refuted claims of factionalization within the state’s chapter of the party.

In a statement issued by Hon. Philip Agbese, the joint spokesman of the NASS caucus, the lawmakers dismissed the idea of a split within the party, describing such assertions as baseless and unfounded.

According to the caucus, Senator George Akume remains the undisputed leader of the APC in Benue State, both in terms of the party’s constitution and the National Working Committee’s (NWC) stance.

The lawmakers emphasized that Austin Agada, who was previously dismissed by his ward, continues to hold the position of state chairman as recognized by the party.

The caucus further criticized Governor Hyacinth Alia’s bid for leadership within the party, questioning the rationale behind his ambitions given his relatively short tenure in office compared to Akume’s extensive political career.

The lawmakers expressed their commitment to following the party’s doctrine and philosophy, asserting that true party members adhere to the chain of command and respect the hierarchy within the party structure.

The caucus members also expressed their pride in their constituencies, highlighting the presence of notable party members such as Senator Ameh Ebute, Chief Audu Ogbeh, and Chief John Ochoga.

They emphasized that their respect for these party leaders and their roles within the party structure is a testament to their dedication to the party’s principles and unity.

The Benue APC National Assembly caucus’s statement reaffirms the party’s unity and the leadership of Senator George Akume in the state.

The caucus’s commitment to the party’s doctrine and the rejection of factionalization serve as a reminder of the importance of unity and adherence to the party’s principles in the pursuit of political goals.
