Alaoji Power Plant in Abia State Undergoing Upgrades for Improved Electricity Supply

The Alaoji power plant in Abia State is currently undergoing significant upgrades and renovations under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Chrome Group, owned by Emeka Offor, and the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).

The 1074MW combined gas turbine power plant is expected to improve electricity supply in the state and the South East region of Nigeria once the upgrades are completed.

Governor Alex Otti recently visited the power plant and pledged his administration’s full support to ensure the completion of the project within the projected timeline of 18 to 24 months.

The upgrades will not only provide 24/7 electricity to the remaining local governments in Abia state, including Umuahia, but also supply power to the South East and the rest of Nigeria.

The Alaoji power plant is a crucial infrastructure project for Abia State and the entire South East region. Its successful completion will contribute significantly to the development of the area and improve the standard of living for residents.

The project is also expected to create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the region.

Emeka Offor, the Chairman of Chrome Group, expressed his commitment to the project, stating that the company is working tirelessly to ensure the timely completion of the upgrades.
