Akwa Ibom Govt Approves Additional N1.4bn for Gratuities Payment in 2024

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has authorized the immediate release of an additional N1.4bn for the payment of gratuities to retired state civil servants and primary school teachers.

This announcement was made in a press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ekerete Udoh, on Tuesday.

The breakdown of the payment shows that N900m will be allocated for retired state civil servants, while N500m has been earmarked for retired primary school teachers.

This recent release brings the total amount of gratuities paid by Governor Umo Eno, ten months after his inauguration, to N16.1bn.

The statement highlighted Governor Umo Eno’s people-centric approach to governance, emphasizing the importance of consistently releasing funds for the payment of gratuities, especially during the current economic situation in the country.

This gesture aims to help retirees cushion the effects of the economic downturn.
