Adamawa State Government Takes Action Against Rising Youth Gangsterism

The Adamawa State Government is making new efforts to address the growing issue of youth gangsterism, particularly involving young men called Shila Boys.

These gangs are notorious for stealing phones and other light items from residents using knives as weapons.

In response to the rising cases of Shila Boys attacks, Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta addressed the media on behalf of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to discuss the government’s latest actions.

Farauta emphasized the importance of redirecting the energies of these young men towards pursuits that yield positive outcomes.

She also urged parents to take responsibility for ensuring their children are in the right places and engaging in appropriate activities.

While acknowledging the government’s efforts to tackle this issue, Farauta did not disclose specific measures being taken, citing security concerns.

The resurgence of Shila Boys has become a major concern for residents of the three municipal local government areas in Adamawa State, with reports of arrests by the Police almost daily.

Despite the arrests, the gangs continue to harass residents and steal their valuables at both night and in broad daylight.

The Fintiri government, which had previously managed to control the Shila Boys when it first came into power in 2019, is now determined to address the issue once again.

The government’s renewed efforts aim to ensure the safety and security of Adamawa State residents and to curb the activities of the Shila Boys.
