Lagos Assembly Urges Sanwo-Olu to Convene Stakeholders’ Meeting on Economic Crisis

The Lagos Assembly has called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to urgently summon a stakeholders’ meeting to proffer solutions to the rising food prices and economic crisis in the state.

During a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, on Tuesday, the lawmakers expressed their concerns over the rising cases of hardship and the need to address the issue.

They emphasized the importance of the security of lives and property, which is one of the fundamental purposes of government.

The House also resolved to invite the Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Ruth Olusanya, and the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, to discuss their plans to ease the effects of the economic situation on residents.

The lawmakers further urged the governor to subsidize transportation and food items in the state.

In light of the economic hardship faced by residents, Governor Sanwo-Olu has announced that he will be holding a media chat on Thursday to discuss the issues and possible solutions.

The Lagos Assembly has urged the governor to prioritize finding sustainable solutions beyond palliatives to alleviate the suffering of the people.
