{"id":1833116,"date":"2023-06-26T11:33:28","date_gmt":"2023-06-26T10:33:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/advocate.ng\/?p=1833116"},"modified":"2023-06-26T11:33:28","modified_gmt":"2023-06-26T10:33:28","slug":"2-traders-jailed-6-months-each-for-stealing-phone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/advocate.ng\/2-traders-jailed-6-months-each-for-stealing-phone\/","title":{"rendered":"2 traders jailed 6 months each for stealing phone"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Zainab Oyekan<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>An Area Court sitting in Jos on Monday jailed two traders, Zugumnan Israel and Ibrahim Sani for stealing a phone from a lady in a tricycle.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The judge, Mr Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Israel and Sani after they confessed to the crime.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He gave them an option of N10,000 fine each.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He also ordered them to pay N31, 000 each as compensation to the complainant.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bokkos said the punishment would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such acts.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported \u00a0in March 28, at the \u201cA\u201c Division Police station by Ms Kelechi John ,the complainant.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Gokwat said the convicts stole the complainant\u2019s phone worth N62,000 .<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>During police investigation, it was discovered that the convicts sold the phone to one Yasir now at large for N18, 000.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He said the offence contravened the provisions of Penal Code Law of Plateau State<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>(NAN)<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Zainab Oyekan An Area Court sitting in Jos on Monday jailed two traders, Zugumnan Israel and Ibrahim Sani for stealing a phone from a lady in a tricycle.
