Speaking during the inauguration, the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa stated that the inauguration of the council is in line with global trends in conflict prevention, conflict resolution and transformation, as well as post-conflict reconciliation and peace management in developed clime.

Reed while taking a swipe at the governor for flaunting the United Nations affirmative action for women lampooned Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for enlisting only 6 women out of 31 members in the council.

On the task before the council, she explained that though the council which had been in existence since 2000, is expected to strengthen the foundation of the unity of the State, it is indeed baffling and laughable that the council is made up of 31 members of the PDP rather than “31 Deltans tasked with this charge”.

Speaking further, the NGO boss hinted that based on the membership of the council being PDP members alone, Deltans who are nonpartisan or are members of other political parties, have no say in strengthening the foundation of their beloved state.
