Ovie Omo-Agege in a chat with Hon. Victor Ochei, during Omo-Agege's visit to Ochei's residence at Asaba

Speaking to journalists during a private visit by Senator Omo-Agege to Mr. Ochei’s residence at Asaba the two political leaders commended the president for mustering the political well in taking the anti-corruption war headlong, adding that a well meaning Nigerians need to support the anti-corruption agenda of the present administration.

They also commended the steps taking so far by the Buhari led government to address the economic challenges currently facing the country, assuring that though the process of change could be sometimes painful, but surly the nation will soon have cause to smile by the time the 2016 budget is implemented.

According to Sen. Omo-Agege, I totally support Mr. President anti-corruption agenda, so if there is one vote in the senate that is guaranteed on this agenda for Mr President, that vote is from Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege.”

In the same vein, Mr. Ochei noted that the anti-corruption war is a war that we must fight as a country and must win if we must experience true development. “As a country we must fight corruption, we ether fight and kill corruption or corruption will fight and kill us all.”

“I want to give kudos to President Buhari for having the political will to fight corruption and for taking the bull be the horn. Most elected official always think about their second tenure and decides not to do the right thing, but that is not the case of Mr President.

On the economic crisis facing the country, Sen. Omo-Agege stated that by the time the 2016 budget is signed and implemented by the President, with N500billion earmark for the empowerment of the vulnerable and N500 billion for hiring and training of teachers and N1.5 trillion for capital expenditure, things will binging to improve.

“Can you imagine the economic impact the Lagos-Calabar rail project will bring to the south-west, south-south and south-east. Just imagine the employment and business that will be created at every train station across the rail line.”

“That is why will senators from the south-south were not comfortable when we heard that the project as commendable as the rail project took flight from the budget; thought the Senate has resolved that the project will be implemented because anything short of that is not acceptable to us.

So, we will do everything to protect our people’s interest and there cannot be a bigger interest of the south-south people than the Lagos-Calabar rail project and we are very conscious of that fact, because that is why we were elected in the first place by our people,” Omo-Agege added.

Mr Ochei also assured Nigerians that better day are ahead, that like a pregnant woman, each stage of the pregnancy come with some pains, and that even at labour the woman losses some blood, but that the moment the child is born, joy takes over the place of pain, nothing that slow but steady Nigeria will overcome her economic challenges.
