VGG commends Buhari for suspending the proposed removal of fuel subsidy

The Director-General, Voice For Good Governance, VGG, Pastor Dr. Solomon Osarumwense Oshodin has lauded the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for heeding the cry of Nigerians and suspending the proposed removal of fuel subsidy.

Pastor Dr. Oshodin made this remark while addressing pressmen in his office in Benin.

He however noted that suspending subsidy removal for eighteen months smacks of the insincerity of purpose on the part of the federal government.

He frowned at the way Nigeria is being governed like a banana republic where those that dare to speak against anti-people policies of government are being witch-hunted and prosecuted by security agencies on spurious allegations.

” Nigeria is not a banana republic where the majority will have their say and the minority will have their way. When you speak against anti-people people policies of government, you will be witch-hunted or handed over to security agencies to answer for what you know nothing about. The price of crude oil is up but Nigerians are still suffering”.

The grassroot mobilizer advocated that the economy be diversified and called on government both at the federal, state and local governments to support agriculture and other revenue yielding ventures to reverse the economy instead of depending on fuel.

” Government should not depend on fuel alone to run this economy. We have other sectors like agriculture and mining that government can explore. Government at all levels should be made to support agriculture. While government is at this, the issue of cattle eating up crops should be thoroughly addressed otherwise we’ll remain where we are”.

He advised the youths to support persons that will respond to the yearnings and aspirations of the people in future elections and not those that will further worsen the economy to their detriment.
