Sapele agog as Ven.Efevwerha celebrates 70th Birthday, 37yrs priestly ordination

Anglican Churches in Sapele city and its environs in  Sapele local government area of Delta State was agog recently when Ven. Lt. Col. B Efevweraha celebrated his 70th years birthday and 37th years as priestly ordination and retirement at a thanksgiving ceremony.

 

The event which took place at the Cathedral Church of St Luke, Special Archdeaconry Rescue Sapele Diocese (Anglican Communion) Sapele saw family members, Church members, friends and well-wishers join him to thank God for all He has done for him, especially as he clocks 70years on earth.

 

While giving his testimony during the thanksgiving, Ven. Efevwerha said that; “I thank God Almighty for keeping me to attain the age of 70yrs and to retired successfully from service after 37yrs of ordination into ministry. I also thank the elders of the rescue group of Churches that deem it fit to call me back to service after two and half years of voluntary retirement as a venerable supervisor of the rescue group of Diocese of Sapele. I cannot say to the call because is the work of God.”

 

The elated man of God further said that he was overwhelmed when I saw the huge number of people that graced the ceremony.

 

He also thanked the Primate of Church of all Nigeria Anglican Communion, the Rescue Group members for their prayers, support and advice during his service as venerable supervisor of the Rescue Group of Churches of the diocese of Sapele.

 

Rev. A Idimi who gave his message at thanksgiving ceremony with the theme ‘the nature of true obedience’,  took his text from Matt 21v28-32 where he explained that from the scripture, there are two categories of people in the church today, some are truly obedient to the word of God, while others are pretenders.

 

The man of God appealed to the congregation to always imbibe the spirit of true obedience and not partial obedience because there is a reward awaiting both, noting that every true obedient child of God is not pushed by force to give or work for God and does not serve grudgingly.

 

Rev Idimi described Efevwerha as a humble leader who served the government as a military man, served God as a clergyman and that many have been blessed through his ministry while appealing to the congregation to always remember him in prayers, cares and visitation as he goes on retirement.

 

Mrs Efevwerha appreciated God for all God has done for her and her husband during service as a clergyman, while equally appreciating every member for their prayers, support and cares during their service to God.

 

Speaking also Ven. C.E. Oburoh described his predecessor Efevwerha as good and humble leader, while primate of Anglican Communion described him as a man who served God with his whole heart.

 

Comrade Oghenerho Onojoroevwo has this to say of him, “he is a leader that led with a good example,” while  Chief Mrs E.Temiagin described him “as a man of wisdom and humility,” and   lady E.K. Gbragada said he is a  “man of wisdom and knowledge.”

 

The chairman of the organizing committee of the ceremony comrade I. Onojoroevwo on behalf of the celebrant appreciates God for making the ceremony a  success even as he also appreciated those who made the ceremony a huge success.
