Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has been lauded by residents of Marine Quarters, Warri, in Warri South Local Government Area, for the ongoing construction of storm drainage projects in the area.
Those who spoke to our correspondent yesterday, Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in the 1st and 3rd Marine Gates areas, noted that the entire area was flood-prone during the rainy season.
They, therefore, expressed optimism that the projects when completed would put an end to the problems of flooding in the area.
However, some of the residents appealed to Governor Okowa to rehabilitate roads in the area alongside the ongoing drainage construction projects.
One of the respondents, Femi Kojo, noted that roads in the area were in their worse state, as he particularly mentioned the roads in First and Third Marine Gates including the adjoining street of Etuwewe as deplorable all seasons.
While noting that the said roads were axial roads to Warri-Sapele Road, he stated that the massive drainage project had made the Third Marine Gate Road completely impassable to vehicle users.
