POOF offers phase 2 free medical treatments to Usiefurun community in Delta

The Prince Oghenerukevwe Okifo Foundation (POOF), a nonprofit service organisation, has offered free medical treatments to indigenes of Usiefurun community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

This gesture took place on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Usiefurun Community Town Hall.

When asked what spurred him into embarking on such an elaborate medical mission at a time when politics is heating up, Secretary to the Prince Oghenerukevwe Okifo Foundation, Hon. Desmond Okpako Duke disclosed that the CEO of (POOF), Prince Oghenerukevwe Okifo is doing his medical outreach out of his feelings for the less privileged and the poor who may not be able to afford medical services.

He said, “Prince Oghenerukevwe Okifo Foundation did not embark on this because of political ambition or to aspire to occupy any elective positions, but to support others who are less privileged in the society”

“This is Phase Two of this medical outreach. We began at Agbarha-Otor in Ughelli Local Government Area and now we are at Usiefurun Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area.”

He further disclosed that Phase Three of the POOF Medical Outreach will be held at Bomadi town in Bomadi Local Government Area.

He maintained that the Foundation loved to work for the social development of the under-privileged individuals, groups and communities which is the focus of and goal.

“The Prince Oghenerukevwe Okifo Foundation is dedicated to social change, enhancement of good health and social integration of the less privileged in our communities. It’s our desire to break the vicious circle of poverty and social isolation amongst our teeming youth population, with a view to restoring hope for a better future, Hon. Desmond Stated”.

When asked about the kind of health services rendered, the Medical Doctor leading the health team, Dr. Bright of Trinity Hospital Ughellu, a private medical practitioner said, they treat the people for ailments most endemic like malaria, typhoid, diabetes, hypertension, and other health issues. He said, “We screen them for hypertension, diabetes, and thereafter give them drugs and medical devices. We also tell them to do a follow up with a physician”.

One of the beneficiaries who spoke to the newsmen, Madam Florence Adjekota, appreciated the foundation for the gesture and prayed to God to continually enrich them in all their endeavours. In her words; “I am sick but I don’t have a kobo to go to the hospital, but when it was announced that some people are coming to test and give us free drugs, I ha e to come. They tested me for free, I met the doctor and told him my problems, he wrote drugs for me and they gave me all the drugs for free”.

Others who spoke also commended the kind gesture of the Prince Oghenerukevwe Okifo Foundation POOF, and called on other well-meaning Nigerians to always support the poor and less privileged in their midst.

Over 250 persons undergo different medical treatments and benefited from the free medical outreach of the foundation.

The team of the Medical Outreach includes the Secretary to the foundation, Hon. Desmond Okpako Duke, Uyigue Ehis, Uyigue Osas, Prince Famous Amrophe, Comrade Williams Oghorada, Erere Goodnews and Comrade Young Ehriurhore.
