Oroseun of Okere Urhobo tussle: Eranvor allegations unfortunate and misleading –Mrakpor

Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Peter Mrakpor has described as unfortunate and misleading, the allegation of been biased in the leadership tussle for the Oroseun of Okere Urhobo Kingdom’s stool.  

Recall that the Secretary of the Joint Ruling Houses Screening and Selection Committee of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Mr Edgar J Eranvor has  accused Mr Peter Mrakpor  of been biased in respect of of his actions in the Oroseun of Okere Urhobo stool tussle.

In a press release signed by Eranvor on behalf of the two Ruling Houses of Owhotemu and Sowhoruvwe had alleged that Mr Mrakpor allegedly looked into some documents presented to him on behalf of Barr Chris Okumagba, who was represented in the meeting, thereby putting him at disadvantage position.

However, reacting to the allegation, the Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Peter Mrakpor  in a press release signed by Mr Ivovi Aruoriwo, Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Justice, said the report is meant to disparage the Office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

According to him; the said publication was unfortunate and misleading, because the documents in relation to the kingship tussle has been forwarded to the Ministry of Justice by both parties for which he is yet to give his legal opinion.

He also assured all parties of his impartiality as the Chief Law Officer to the Delta State Government and a custodian of the law, which he swore to uphold and protect at all times.

The Attorney-General enjoined parties to the dispute to be calm as Government is committed to the amicable resolution of the matter.

The statement also advised peddlers of such unfortunate and misleading stories not to heat up the polity or preempt the actions of government in respect of the contending issue between the two Ruling Houses of Owhotemu and Sowhoruvwe.

The Office of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice also enjoined members of the public to seek or make enquiries on matters of interest as his Office is always accessible to everyone.
