Oroseun of Okere Urhobo Stool Tussle: You are biased, Eranvor tells Mrakpor

The Secretary of the joint Ruling Houses Screening and Selection Committee of Okere Urhobo Kingdom has  described the action of the Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr Peter Mrakpor  in respect of the Oroseun of Okere Urhobo stool tussle as biased.

In  a press release signed by Mr Edgar J Eranvor on behalf of the two Ruling Houses of Owhotemu and Sowhoruvwe made available to ADVOCATE in Warri,  he described the meeting of 12 February, 2019, under the auspice of the deputy governor which was anchored by Mr Mrakpor “as a charade, an act of self deceit by government officials who refused to allow presentation of material, empirical facts on the succession procedure by the ruling houses.”

The release also accused Mr Mrakpor  of allegedly refusing to look into to some documents presented to him on behalf of Barr Chris Okumagba, who was represented in the meeting.

According to the press release; “all efforts to put across this documents to the Attorney General prove abortive; thereby suggesting that he has taken side with Barr Chris Okumagba’s opponent.”

The release also stated that the publication of the Pointer Newspaper on Wednesday 14,February, 2019, did not reflect the exact thing that happened in the meeting.

Eranvor also added  that  Mr Mrakpor openly and allegedly said that, Barr. Christopher Okumagba papers are before him and he would not sign them no matter the pressure.

It was also alleged that Mr Mrakpor made  some comments which was not expected of government official of his caliber and that the statement credited to him in the Pointer Newspaper where he said he is going to resolve the Okere Urhobo Kingdom, kingship tussle within two weeks; “is a face saving attempt to cover up his blunder and open bias against Barr Christopher Okumagba, the Oroseun of Okere Urhobo Kingdom. ”

Eranvon therefore called on the Governor of Delta state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, take a critical look at the alleged biased posture of the Attorney General, during the February 12th, 2018 meeting before taking action on the reports to be submitted to him as it affects the Oroseun of Okere Urhobo Kingdom.

Since according to them, Barr.Chris Okumagba was screened and selected by the 3 Ruling Houses based on the traditional native law of Okere Urhobo Kingdom.

However,  as of the time of filing this report, Prof. Paul Okumagba and Barr. Christopher Okumagba has been crowned as Oroseun of Okere Urhobo Kingdom
