Opuoru declares for a 2nd term, Warri South Constituency II belongs to the Urhobos of Warri

The member representing Warri South Constituency II in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru has declared his intention to run for a second term in the office.

 Meanwhile, Chief Isreal Abido, the National Leader of Urhobos of Warri political class declared that Warri South Constituency II, belongs to the Urhobos of Warri and anybody who is fighting the Urhobos for what is rightly theirs, God will fight that person.

He added that the Urhobos of Warri are like a moving train and whosoever stands in its way shall be crushed!

These are the fallouts of the declaration of Opuoru at the residence of Chief Isreal Abido at Ekpan.

Opuoru thanked the people for voting for him in his first tenure, commended Chief Abido for being straightforward and forthright, and above all for standing by him.

He explained that since Agbarha Warri has done 16 years in these, it is proper for the people of Okere- Urhobo to complete their own term even as he listed some of his achievements within his three years in office as the completion of Kpaka Street by B Division.

Completion of 6- Class Room Block of Essi College 1 and 2, including the completion of Teachers Quarters of Essi College, Construction of Toilet at Ighogbadu Primary and Olodi Primary Schools, Warri College of Commerce as well.

While he disclosed that Merogun, Don Numa, Ogedegbe, and Agbasa Primary Schools shall be reconstructed and completed including the drainage of Ikengbawa Primary School are in his 2022 Constituency projects and shall be completed by July 2022.

According to him, he has supplied 540 Children Desks to Schools in Warri South Constituency 2, Edjeba, Ikengbawa, Olodi, Ighogbadu, Pessu adding that Hussey and Essi Colleges also benefitted from the gesture. While provision has been made for additional supply of one thousand Chairs and Desks for Children and Teachers as well.

He stated further that if elected again, for the next four years, he is going to spend a total of 86 Million Naira at the rate of N1.8m monthly as a stipend of N5,000 to his constituent.

Opuoru also said that God has been so wonderful to him and within his short period in politics, he has achieved a lot for his people.

While praying for the continued peace in Warri, he called on God to arrest anybody who wants to ferment trouble in the Oil City. Adding that Warri South Constituency 2, was created as a result of the ugly incident that happened in the city about 20 years ago, where many lives were lost and houses burnt. “So anybody who wants to create problem in Warri South God will deal with that person”

Responding, Chief Isreal Abido, said that they are standing behind him for his 2 term bid, “you started by buying cars for councillors, you are the only one for the position,” adding that politics is all about the resolution of crisis as well.

Speaking extensively on Warri South Constituency 2, he stresses “Warri South Constituency 2 belongs to us (Urhobos of Warri) and nobody can take it from us! We are not fighting anybody and nobody should fight us over what belongs to us. Nobody can shake us. We are a moving train, if you stand in our way, the train will crush you! We will crush you because Warri South Constituency 2 belong to us.”

Chief Abido prayed to God and ask him to grant Hon. Opuoru his heart desires.

Comrade Rex Anighoro Special Assistant To the Governor of Delta State expressed bitterness over the attitude of a particular ethnic group contesting Warri South Constituency 2 with the Urhobos and called on men with a good conscience to stand up for the Urhobos of Warri South Constituency 2.

He commended Hon. Matthew Opuoru urged everybody residing in the constituency to vote for him irrespective of their ethnic background.

Adding that voting him for is an act of “Duty and Religion, I believe standing for the Urhobos of Warri is a just course! Returning Hon. Opuoru will resolve the contentious issue of Warri South Constituency 2 once and for all.”

Chief Isaac Emifoniye, Olorogun Victor Okumagba, Chief Westham Adehor, Chief Peter Agiri, Comrade Mark Ikpuri, Comrade Stevenson Obioru and others were present at the occasion.
