Okowa urges Corps members to eschew division, unite to build the nation

Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on 2020 Batch ‘B’ Corps to eschew divisions and unite to rebuild the country, adding that as future leaders, they should work hard in their service to the nation for the fulfilment of the collective aspiration of the people of Nigeria.

 

The Governor stated this at the swearing-in of the 2020 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1A Corps members deployed to Delta at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state.

 

Okowa who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youths Development, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga assured the Corps members that his administration would ensure that their welfare is adequately catered for, in the course of their service in the state.

 

He enjoined the prospective corps members to co-operate fully with the officials and actively engage themselves in the programs and activities of the orientation course to ensure a hitch-free orientation exercise in the state.

He urged them to abide by all the camp and NCDC official guidelines for us to defeat COVID-19 scourge. With this, he declared the Batch ‘B’, stream 1A, 2020 orientation course formally open.

“Let me welcome you all to Delta State, especially after the long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

“AS future leaders, it is important that we unite in our quest to serve our nation towards ensuring that we rebuild our nation to the delight of the Nigerian people.

 

“I enjoin you all to co-operate fully with the officials and actively engage yourselves in the programs and activities of the orientation course to ensure a hitch-free orientation exercise in the state.

 

“You must also abide by all the camp and NCDC official guidelines for us to defeat COVID-19 scourge,” he stated.

 

Earlier, State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Olutayo Samuel said that Delta NYSC said a total of 738 corps members were inducted for the orientation course.

 

She expressed the willingness of the NYSC to follow COVID-19 protocols put in place and also thanked the governor for his continuous support towards NYSC in Delta State.
