Okowa have adopted me as next Udu Council Boss, Says Alhaji Brown

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Special Duties, Alhaji Jite Brown has declared that Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has adopted him as sole candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the next Chairman of Udu Local Government Council in the coming council election.

Alhaji Brown stated this at a town hall meeting in Aladja on Sunday August 6, 2017 during which Hon Daniel Kabedje Tabuko, one of the chairmanship aspirants in the race, also from Aladja, confirmed that he was with the Governor when he gave Alhaji Brown the green light to contest the next election as sole PDP candidate.

He disclosed that the meeting allegedly took place at Abuja with Hillary Enyegbulem, Principal Secretary to the Governor; Hon Michael Diden, aka Ejele, member Representing Warri North in the Delta State House of Assembly; Chief Kingsley Esiso, Chairman, PDP Delta State and other top party officials in attendance. He disclosed that the Udu situation was the core issue of debate at the meeting.

According to Hon Kabedje Tabuko, ‘’Based on the Governor’s directive, I have decided to step down for Jite Brown. I also wish to direct all my teeming supporters to join the Jite Brown campaign train as I am not inclined towards flouting the directive of Governor Okowa. The Governor has also asked all aspirants to step down for Alhaji Brown because Governor Okowa believes Aladja is strategic to winning Udu in the next general election.”

He added that Michael Diden, aka Ejele has also promised to make money available to sponsor Jite Brown and to help bulldoze the Governor’s choice to power.

Speaking at the ceremony, Alhaji Jite Brown, a foremost Muslim leader in Udu Community, thanked Aladja people for the support for his ambition, assuring that the Governor was aware that if he dare give the PDP ticket to any aspirant outside Aladja community, PDP will not get any vote from the community in the 2019 general election.

He added that Aladja will only give their usual block votes to the party ‘’if and only if one of our sons is made Executive Chairman of the Council in the coming Local Government Election. We are glad the Governor has granted our request and I have been granted the sole candidacy of the PDP for Chairman of the council’’, he declared to the joy and celebration from his enthusiastic supporters.

Alhaji Jite Brown added further that all those in the race today will be asked to step down for him because, the Governor is interested in his ambition, knowing full well that he alone had the capacity to deliver Udu for PDP in 2019.

The matter of the alleged endorsement of Jite Brown has been dominating public discourse for weeks since it was announced at the town hall meeting at Aladja, but Hon Charles Leleji, another Chairmanship aspirant from Aladja dismissed the statement, stressing Governor Okowa, as an experienced politician will not adopt any candidate when dates for the election has not been announced. He vowed to run the race to the end.
