Ogboru, Ochei, others joins APC; says PDP days in Delta are over

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC ), Chief John Odigie Oyegun and APC National Working Committee (NWC), Tuesday formally received into the APC fold, Chief Great Ogboru, the 2015 Labour party governorship candidate in Delta state and former speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and 2015 Senatorial candidate of Accord Party, Rt Hon Victor Ochei and their supporters to the party.

The State leader of the party and 2015 governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, who presented the defectors which included political stalwarts from PDP, ACCORD and SDP in the state to the national leadership of the party, noted they have come to serve PDP in Delta State a quit notice.

The elated Oyegun while congratulating Delta APC on the feat achieved in bringing together such array of political heavyweights, specifically acknowledged Olorogun Otega Emerhor as the recognised state leader of the party in Delta State.

He commended him and the state chairman of the party, Prophet Jones Erue for their sacrifices and broad mindedness in putting the interest of growing the party ahead of self interest above their immediate interest.

Oyegun further urged all those in Delta not yet working with Emerhor and the Prophet Jones Exco to sheather their sword and join the mainstream of the party in the state.

He commended Chief Ogboru, saying that he has finally came home as he has always been in the progressives family.  Adding that Hon Ochei whom he described as a political tactician, should feel at home Delta APC, as the party is on the match to redeem Delta.

He charged both old and new members to work in unity in order consolidate the gains of the coming together, noting the APC Delta is now fully recharged.

The APC state leader Olorogun Emerhor in his remark declared the day his happiest in APC. He noted that with the entrance of Chief Ogboru and Hon Ochei, an effective quit notice has now been served on PDP to vacate government house Asaba in 2019.

According to him, for some time now only discouraging news has emanated from APC Delta,  adding that with this development; “we now have not only good but great news”.

He eulogies Chief Ogboru and Hon Ochei as progressive political juggernauts that has come to join hands with the existing structures of APC in order jointly sink PDP already sinking boat in Delta State.

Chief Great Ogboru while also thanking Emerhor for his dexterity in midwifing the unity in Delta opposition, corroborated Emerhor’s position, saying the new APC is a team that has worked together and won victory in Delta state before and shall repeat the feats again in 2019.

He added that with the caliber of persons that have now converged in APC, and the collapse of the former labour party structures into APC, the PDP will soon be routed from Delta state.

Hon Victor Ochei in his address stated also that the end of PDP has come; adding that him and others coming from the PDP background knows what it takes to win elections and shall transfer such skills to deliver APC in Delta.

He also thanked Emerhor, Prophet Jones Erue, the National Chairman and NWC for the good reception accorded them. He pledged to work for the unity and success of the party in the state.
