A chieftain of the Light of Labour and a close associate of Chief Great Ogboru, have described as baseless, report trending on social media that Chief Ogboru and his supports may pull out of  All Progressives Congress, in Delta State.apc-leaders

The party leader who spoke to ADVOCATE on Telephone, Monday night, but pleaded for anonymity because of the peace effort initiated by the party National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, described the report as laughable, adding that Chief Ogboru and his supporters are committed to a united APC in Delta state.

It would be recalled that in a bid to resolve the leadership crisis rocking the Delta State chapter of the APC, the National Working Committee, NWC led by Chief John Oyegun at Abuja last week Wednesday setup a 10-man Leadership Council by which will take major decisions in the party in the state.

The council which is to be headed by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor will be co-chaired by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu while its members includes, Chief Great Ovadje Ogboru, Chief Ayiri Emami, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei and Prophet Jones Erue.

According to the LoL leader while reacting to the report that the Ogboru group was not comfortable with the outcome of the NWC meeting and may pull out of the party, stated that, “whoever is peddling such rumour does not have the facts.”

“Why will Ogboru and his supporters pull out of a party with strong national spread, what for? All we are asking is that all stakeholders should be accommodated because we need all the progressives in the state to dislodge the PDP in 2019.

“We are not against Olorogun O’tega Emerhor leadership of the party because you can only have a king at a time, but as leaders, what we are saying is that he should also listen to our suggestions which can help grow the party, because Ogboru and members of the Light of Labour are committed to a united Delta APC.”

He therefore, urged APC faithfuls in the state to disregard the report and remain steadfast in the task of building a stronger, all embracing and united APC in Delta were every party member will have sense of belonging.

Speaking on the formation of the leadership council; a chieftain of the party in the State and former House of Representative member, Hon Solomon Edojah said: “The council would be fully constituted on a later date as it was only seven members appointed into the council that were present during the Wednesday meeting. It was also resolved that the State executive of the party would stay.”

According to a source within the party, the NWC at its meeting on Wednesday also resolved that the state chairman of the Party, Prophet Jones Erue should head the state caucus of the party which should be set up with immediate effect.

Speaking further, the source said: “The NWC ordered that those causing distractions in the state chapter of the party should desist as they would not enjoy this soft landing granted to them next time they dare such action.

“Recalcitrant members of the party were asked to write an apology letter to the NWC and the party for dragging the party’s name and respected NWC members to the mud.”
