Oborevwori charges assembly members to redouble efforts in legislative duties

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has charged members of the House to redouble their efforts in their legislative duties in order to impact positively on the people of the State.

While welcoming members, Tuesday on resumption after the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Speaker commended members for their contributions which made it possible for the House to achieve a commendable result in 2017 and urged them to double up their efforts in the New Year.

According to him, the House was able to pass the 2018 Appropriation bill into law in November   2017, describing it as unprecedented, adding that the House successfully worked on the 4th Alteration Bill, 2017 of the Constitution which was forwarded to it by the National Assembly, noting that; “these are indeed milestones for the House.”

“As we have resumed this year for our legislative duties, I urge all of us to settle down to our various duties as fast as possible and begin to play our part in moving Delta State forward. On this note, I therefore call on Chairmen of Committees to work on outstanding Bills that are before their committees and bring them before the House for further legislative action as we are determined to give Deltans the best. I want to assure our people that the Legislature will always work for the interest of Deltans.”

The Speaker thanked members for their unalloyed support to him and the Leadership of the House, and implored them to sustain same in this year 2018.

He stated further, “I also wish to acknowledge the support of the staff of the Assembly. I thank you very much.”

He also commended the State Governor for his continued support to the Delta State House of Assembly saying; “The House is in its enviable position today as a result of the   support being enjoyed from the Executive Arm of the State Government. But we hope for more support this year.  The Delta State House of Assembly will sustain the existing cordial relationship between the Executive and the Legislative.”

The Speaker congratulated the Governor, the Chairman and members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), members of the House and Deltans in general for the successful conduct of the January 6, 2018 local government elections.
