NSCDC deploys 2,670 personnel in Cross River for Saturday’s elections

By George Odok
Mr Samuel Fadeyi, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Cross River, says the corps has deployed no fewer than 2,670 personnel across the state for Saturday’s election.
Fadeyi made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar on Thursday.
He said that the move was to provide adequate security during the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.

Fadeyi said that the personnel would work in synergy with other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

The commandant urged men and officers of the corps on election duty to exude high level of professionalism and integrity during the polls.

”Anyone caught being partisan will be sanctioned. You must resist every temptation to favour any particular party.

”Resist any attempt by politicians to use you to cause violence, anyone caught will face the wrath of the law,” he said.
He said that all the personnel had been well-sensitised on the Electoral Act, and knew the consequences of compromise.
The commandant said no fewer than 10 suspects were arrested for various offences across the state during the Presidential and National Assembly election.
Fadeyi therefore cautioned residents against acts of violence during the election.

”As a command, we are ready to provide adequate security, we shall do our part to ensure a peaceful and orderly process,” he said.
