Man, 67 arrested for defiling 11-year-old girl in Delta

The Police in Delta State has arrested a 67-year-old man, Gabriel Achibong for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl in Junior Secondary School, JSS1, in the Okpe road area of Sapele, Delta State.

Advocate.ng gathered that the suspect, who is currently in detention allegedly defiled the girl when she came to meet the suspect wife, who is a hairdresser for her hairdo.

The little girl it was gathered, has been having her hairdo at the woman’s makeshift saloon attached to the suspect apartment.

A neighbour, a teacher in one of the private schools in Sapele, Comrade Ovo James told our correspondent that, “she came that day to do her hair and because the woman was busy doing another person’s hair, the girl had to wait, she was watching television from outside through the window.

“The window was a bit close, so the suspect wife advised her to go inside and sit down and watch the programme on the television, that was when the husband took advantage of her and rape her,” he added

It was also gathered that the minor did not scream for help during the incident because the suspect who allegedly lured her to the room gagged her mouth to prevent her from shouting in order not to alert the wife.

Advocate.ng also gathered that the suspect threatened to kill the little girl should she tell what happened to anyone, the fear, made her not tell the suspect’s wife.

On getting home, the mother of the girl who saw the look on her daughter’s face inquired to know what the problem was, the girl was said to have told her mother what happened and it was her mother who got the police involved.

When contacted, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright could not be reached to confirm the arrest of the suspect, but a police source who craved anonymity confirm that the suspect has been arrested, “the incident happened last week but we are already on it, the suspect will certainly be charged to court,” he said.
