Justice Omo-Agege’s death is a great loss to the Nation

…Emerhor, Majoroh and Uloho described him as a man of unblemished integrity

Prominent Urhobos have described the demise of Hon. Chief Justice James Omo-Agege, a former Chief Judge of Delta State and the patriarch of the Omo-Agege Dynasty of Orhomurun Orogun, as a great loss to the Urhobo nation, Delta State and the nation at large.

In their separate reactions to the death of Justice Omo-Agege, pioneer Chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, (DSIEC), who died on Thursday at the age of 87, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Arc (Chief) Charles Majoroh, and Chief Austin Uloho described him as a fearless jurist who brought honour to the bench.

Announcing his death, one of the sons of the late Octogenarian and the Senator Representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in a statement on behalf of the family said, “The patriarch of the Omo-Agege Dynasty of Orhomurun Orogun, Honourable Justice James Omo-Agege, OFR (Rtd), former Chief Judge of Delta State, transited to glory today, August 18, 2016.

“He lived his eventful life as one of the finest jurists in our nation’s history.

“Without a doubt, our father’s legacy is a most courageous, dignifying and glorious one. We are grateful for his life of absolute honour, dignity, and patriotism. His love for the rule of law and the judiciary is etched in history for all time. We can only celebrate his greatness.”

Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the leader of the All Progressive Congress APC, Delta State and the governorship candidate in the last election in his tribute to the late Chief Judge, described him as an epitome of courage and firmness and his death was a great loss.

According to Emerhor, “the demise of Honourable Justice James Omo-Agege, OFR (Rtd), former Chief Judge of Delta State and the patriarch of the Omo-Agege Dynasty of Orhomurun Orogun, is a great loss to the Urhobo nation, Delta State and the nation at large.

“Late Justice Omo-Agege was an epitome of courage and firmness. He brought honour to the judiciary and his unblemished record as a judge is a testimony of his impeccable character as a man of integrity.

“While we condole with the Omo-Agege family over the loss of their father, we urged them to take solace that Papa lived a fulfilled life.   We pray God to grant his soul eternal rest.

In his tribute to the late Justice Omo-Agege, Arc (Chief) Charles Majoroh, a former 1^st Deputy President General of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, stated that his death was a great loss to the Urhobo nation.

“He was a man of honour who served with candour and unblemished integrity in the judiciary as well as a respected umpire of in the Electoral process of our state as the Chairman of DSIEC.

“This great son of the Urhoboland has run a good race and left indelible footsteps on the sands of time.

May the Almighty give succor to those family members he left behind, while granting his soul a perfect peace and rest in the bosom of the Lord.”

Chief Austin Uloho, a former 2nd Deputy President General of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, while eulogizing the Late Jurist described him as a fearless jurist whose legacy will live on, even in death.

According to him, the Late Omo-Agege was; “a legal icon has gone to rest but his legacy lives on. What a loss to the Urhobo nation and Nigeria.

Rest in peace the fearless jurist.”
