Ibori is a quintessential leader, an enigma in the political clime-Akpokona

Comrade Akpokona Omafuire, a foremost Journalist  and chairman of the Warri Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists Delta State Council and also a lawyer made this remarks at Ovwor-Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government Area on Saturday, March 10, during a reception held in honour of Chief James Ibori.

The journalists who was cornered by his colleagus stated that it was the good deeds of Chief Ibori that has made him remain a household name and loved by his people even when he is been victimised by the UK government.

He added that the man called Ibori is a man with a large heart whose intention is to carry everyone along irrespective of ethnicity and tribe.

He described Chief Ibori as a thorough bred Urhobo born politician who will not reward evil with evil. Akpokona urged all Deltans to stand firmly behind Ibori as Deltans have never had it as good since Ibori left the seat.

On his House of Representative ambition, Comrade Omafuire said his reasons for coming out to contest for the position is as a result of the monumental failure experienced from those representing the constituency over the  years.  In his words; ” we want good representation and we can’t afford to waste another fours of directonless and poor representation”.

He maintained that lawmaking business is a serious business that requires someone that is knowledgeable in law, and as well making laws that are meant for the good of the people and not a person who will use such position to back up his or her illegal businesses to the detriment of the entire constituents. He alleged that the people of Ughelli North/South and Udu have been badly represented all these years hence he is coming out to make a difference and correction.

He charged the electorates to make corrections to the mistakes made so far by voting a vibrant person with the first hand knowledge of the law in the forthcoming election. He said it is appalling for a lawmaker who have stayed in a position for eight years to point at two transformer for three local governments as his achievements. He said the era of using money to buy votes is gone and that poor representation will no longer acceptable to the masses.

Noting that it is time for accountability, “the people need to know how much is their constituency projects money and how it is spent”. He added that such fund accrued to the constituency should not be shrewded in secrecy.

The lawyer however called on the electorate to choose between good and evil, between development and underdevelopment as he is out to develop Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency beyond their expectations if voted in and to as well exposed the inexperienced leadership styles of our previous leaders who he described as people that lack good background of lawmaking.
