HOSCON demands NDDC IMC sack; inauguration of the screened Board members

Niger Delta non-political pressure group, Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSCON), has called for the immediate sack and prosecution of officials Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Interim Management Committee, who are allegedly fingered in the corruption scandal rocking the agency.

 

The group, in a statement signed by HOSCON’s National Director of Media and publicity, Okakuro Monday Whiskey after a meeting of leaders from the 10 oil-producing states, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Abia and Imo weekend, also demanded the urgent inauguration of the screened NDDC Board.

 

According to the statement, the people of the region are no longer comfortable with the level of fraud going on in the NDDC led by the 4-man IMC, which has turned the commonwealth of the people the region to their personal estate.

The group frowns at the colossal wastage of over N80b by the illegal members of the Interim Management Committee which should have been used for the development of the region, stressing that people of the region have had enough of the “wonton wastage and outright stealing that is ongoing currently, in the Commission”.

 

The group added that when the NDDC was put under the control of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, it had raised an alarm in November 2019 that such will be detrimental to the region.

 

“We are no longer comfortable with the multi-billion naira fraud that has bedevilled the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under the kangaroo three members Interim Management Committee (IMC), leading to wastage of over 80 Billion Naira.

 

“We demand without further delay, that the already screened and confirmed Board by the National Assembly under the Chairmanship of His Excellency Dr Pius Odubu, be urgently inaugurated to put a stop to this.

 

“We demand without further delay, the return of the NDDC back to the Presidency for proper administration and supervision.”
