Emerhor gives out N13.1M to 262 Deltans as empowerment scheme

As part of activity to his 60th birthday, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta state gave out N13.1 million to 262 Deltans as empowerment scheme.

The empowerment scheme which brought to an end a four-day celebration programme, held in his Evwreni country home, Ughelli North council area of the state, had the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Victor Ochei as Chairman of the occasion.

Ochei while commending Olorogun Emerhor for reaching out to indigent Deltans, noted that Emerhor over the years has been giving to Deltans at different level to ensure that there is improvement  their lives and businesses.

The former Speaker stated further that the empowerment programmes stand out, because is from an individual limited resources, adding that; “we cannot describe what the Delta State government is doing as empowerment because that is our common wealth.

“But we must commend the efforts of Emerhor because what he is doing today is from his personal pocket for the benefit of his people”, he said.

Ochei keying into the empowerment scheme announced an additional another N1 million as empowerment packs for 20 widows, who would later be selected by the wife of Emerhor, Chief (Mrs.) Rita Emerhor.

Speaking earlier, Emerhor said he choose to mark his 60th birthday with less endowed  Nigerians in order to give back to the society  which sadly had not had the opportunity to be really empowered since the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) took power in 1999.

According to him, “Government has a responsibility to provide for the citizens so that there is a minimum standard of living for the people, but unfortunately, since 1999 when the PDP came to power, we have not been able to attain that level of empowerment.

“This is one of the primary reason we are fighting to take over government because we are people oriented and APC must stand to ensure that good governance is enthroned in Delta State”, he said.

In her remark, Chief (Mrs.) Rita Emerhor charged the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme to see N50, 000 given to each of them as a seed and ensure they prayerfully invest and grow it, noting that they will be monitored how they use the fund and promised that there would be a future assistance for those who prove resourceful with the current fund.

Beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme commended Olorogun Emerhor praying God to bless him for his gesture at this critical time in our national economy.

Some of the dignitaries that attended the empowerment programme include: Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, Chief Adelabu Bodjor, Apostle Yemi Omaghomi, Alhaji Yahaya Saiad, Dr Omawumi Urhobo, Barr(Chief) Andrew Orugbo, Wife of the Nigeria Ambassador to Vietnam; Mrs. Efeduma, President General of Evwreni Kingdom; Chief Victor Ohare, Chief Terry Otuya, Chief Sir Mitchell Nwagwu, Chief Sir Obiuwevwi Ominimini, Barr Omasan Agbajoh, Barr. Awele Nwoko and others.
