Delta LG Boss gives Patrol Vehicles To Vigilante Groups To Combat Insecurity

….Unveils Security Outfit

In efforts to check the raising insecurity across the state, the Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Chief Godwin Adode, Wednesday gifted patrol vehicles to Delta State Community Security Corps in various clans of the local government.

The event which took place at the event hall of Ughelli North local government secretariat saw Chief Adode a.k.a Coach Tete gifting 8 patrol vehicles to combat insecurity in the council area and to boost the morale of the security team.

This gesture, Advocate.ng gathered was a result of the desire of the council boss to make Ughelli North safer and to check crime and criminalities, to this end he unveiled a new security outfit to complement the efforts of other security agencies in the various kingdoms in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.

Seven Toyota Sienna space buses were given to the seven clans and one to the Divisional Police Force unit. The vehicles were handed to Chief Pius Omobaye JP, the President General Of Ughelli Kingdom on behalf of the vigilante groups.

Beneficiaries kingdoms of the patrol of vehicles were Uwheru Kingdom, Ododegho Clan, Ughelli Kingdom, Orogun Kingdom, Agbarha-Otor, Agbarho Kingdom, Ogor Kingdom, Evwreni Kingdom and the Divisional Police Headquarters of Ughelli.

Chief Adode who came into office under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in his address to newsmen cleared the air on the fact that the gesture wasn’t politically based, but rather for the welfare of all and sundry and as part of the responsibilities of government to its citizens in the protection of lives and properties.

In his words, he said, “the timing here is so critical as I talk to you a rate of crime is high in the local government. Now let’s forget PDP and let’s forget about APC. What we want to do is to checkmate the criminals and the kidnappers, that’s why we are doing these vehicles out.

“I want to advise we should put politics aside. This thing does not involve politics at all. Nothing like political parties involved”.

He also charged the benefiting Kingdoms to take ownership of the vehicles and ensure that they were maintained. “The repairs of the vehicles will be taken care of by the kingdoms,” he said.

The chairman gave assurance that the police in synergy with the vigilante groups would foster tight security in Ughelli North local government area. “We have twenty men on the ground that they are paying now for each ward, and we have over two hundred persons working now in the local government to tell you that the strength is high because now they are working with the police”.
