Delta Govt promises quality health care for its citizens

The Delta State Government has assured Deltans of its efforts in providing quality health care to all in line with the SMART Agenda of the Dr Ifeanyi Okowa administration.

The Chairman Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency (DSPHCDA) Dr Isioma Okobah, gave the assurance during inspection visits to Primary Health Centres in Aniocha North LGA.

Dr Okobah while appreciating the State Governor for initiating the community Health Insurance Scheme said that the scheme had alleviated the health care of Deltans especially those in the Locality.

She noted that the scheme was bringing the health care closer to the grassroots as the health centers were now stocked with drugs from the Drug Revolving Funds.

She expressed satisfaction with the services of the scheme in the 5 pilot Centers in the LGA saying the scheme would soon be operational in the other PHCs.

The Chairman also reiterated the State Government commitment in developing the health centers across the state with emphasis on infrastructure and equipment to further boost the health services in the state. She assured that renovation of PHC would soon commence.

At the Onicha Olona PHC, Dr Okobah commended the community for their communal ownership of the centre.

She praised the Ward Development Committee led by Mr.Nwadiokueshi Alex for their efforts in restoring electricity and undertaking the re- roofing of the centre enjoining other community to reciprocate government gesture by maintaining the centre in their community.

Inspecting the PHC in Onicha -Uku, where a child delivery had just taken place, the Chairman called on women to desist from patronizing traditional Birth Attendant (TBA) as the health centers has qualified and dedicated health workers.

Earlier, the PHC Coordinator, Dr. Charles Eborka commended the Governor for his determination in bring health insurance care closer to the grassroots.

Dr Eborka said the scheme kicked off in January this year with 5 PHCs in the LGA- Issele-Uku, Ugbodu, Onicha Ugbo, Ezi and Idumuju-Ugboko.

He opined that the community health insurance scheme has impacted positively on PHCs as more activities and patients are being attended to .

The Chairman visited the health centers in Issele Azagba,Issele mkpitime, Onicha- Olona,Ezi, Ugbodu,Onicha Uku. Ukwu-Nzu, Ugboba,idumu-Ugo and Obomkpa.
