Delta APC SEC meets to approve welcoming of new entrants … Welcome rally will change Delta political equation

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State, caucus and expanded State Executive Council, SEC, will on Sunday 5^th and Monday 6^th of June, meet to consider and approve the report of its new entrants welcoming committee earlier setup to interact  with new entrants to the party in the state.

The party in the state had setup a 9-man committee is headed by Barr Fred Okpowhoro, to reach out and also interact with groups, prominent individuals that are progressives in other party and some progressive element in the PDP who are disenchanted with the happenings in the governance of the state and bring them on board in APC.

According to a reliable source who spoke to us but pleaded for anonymity, he stated that the SEC at the meeting would consider and approve the resolutions for Chief Great Ogboru, Hon. Victor Ochei and other PDP group joining the party.

He equally stated that at the meeting, the SEC will also draw up the timetable for the grand reception rally for Chief Great Ogboru, Hon. Victor Ochei and their groups; PDP and other groups joining the APC in Delta state, noting that, “it will be the mother of all rally and will change the political equation of Delta state ahead of 2019 elections.”

It would be recalled that the leadership of APC in Delta have been in discussion with various groups and some notable progressive over the past months, on the need to forge a stronger front to dislodge the PDP which have been ruling the state in the past 17 years.

Meanwhile the leader of APC in Delta state and its governorship candidate in the 2015 election, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, had stated in a recent interview published in the media that, “APC as the national ruling party in the country is attracting major interest of critical political players in Delta state who share the common mission of dislodging the PDP that has misruled the state for nearly 17 years.”

According to him, “we are excited by the decision of known opposition leaders and strong former PDP stalwarts who are now joining forces with us in this endeavour! In particular, Chief Great Ogboru is leading the whole structure of the Labour party in Delta state to join us!

“The former speaker of the Delta State house of assembly, Hon Victor Ochei, as you must be aware, apart from being the state leader of Accord party, also set up a statewide structure to pursue his then governorship race in the PDP. He is also collapsing these structures into the APC.

“There are others, former commissioners and government appointees and party stalwarts of the PDP that have joined us or are warming up to do so,” he added.
