Delta APC reconciles differences, agrees on party unity …to conduct all-inclusive state congress

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta State chapter has resolved to put their differences aside and work for the party’s unity and progress ahead of 2019 general election in the state.

 

The party reached this decision, at a unification meeting of the party leaders held at Onicha-Ugbo on Saturday, hosted by Dr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources (State) and co-chaired by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the 2015 gubernatorial candidate of the party.

 

The party leaders urged all interest group or individuals to withdraw all pending cases in court within 90days in order to introduce a new lease of life that would propel the party into a more united and stronger political family.

 

The party leaders also stated that it will formally request the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to conduct a repeat congress for an all-encompassing State Exco which tenure will expire at the same time as the current Exco in April 2018.

 

 

According to press release signed by the party’s Acting State Publicity Secretary, Engr. Leonard Obibi, the leadership of the party resolved among other things that: “All interest groups or individuals are to within 90 days withdraw all legal cases from court effective the date of this meeting;

 

“To request the National Working Committee (NWC) to take necessary steps, after the withdrawal of all court cases, to conduct a repeat congress for the election of an all-encompassing State Exco which tenure will expire at the same time as the current Exco in April 2018. It was also unanimously agreed that there shall be no interim Caretaker Committee for the party, and that the repeat Congress shall be open to all party members, both old and new, to ensure comprehensive and all-inclusive participation;

 

“The Delta State APC family has undertaken to start working together in unison and will continue to make whatever sacrifice is necessary for sustaining the peace and progress of our party.”

 

Engr. Obibi also added that there is general consensus, that the party should publicly apologies to any leaders who hurt court as a result of previous publications of the party; and that those members of the State Exco on suspension for various infractions be forgiven and recalled through the proper channels of authority within the party.

 

He noted that, the party is already taking steps to implement the resolutions reached; and is totally committed to the path of peace and progress.

The party commended all its leaders for this renewed spirit of collaboration, and in particular the Honourable Minister, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, who hosted both meetings for the success so far achieved.

 

“With the above collective agreement, all members of the Delta State Chapter of APC are resolutely poised to work harmoniously, and the party is now very well positioned to grow from strength to strength in pursuit of its political objectives.

 

Some of the leaders present at the peace talks were: Sir Olisaemeka Akamukali (member, Board of Trustees), Chief Adolo Okotie-Eboh, Chief Great Ogboru (represented by Evang. Ossai Abeh) and Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei.

 

Others were Dr Alex Ideh and Chief (Engr.) Hyacinth Enuha (represented by Barr. Dennis Nwanokwai), Chief Frank Kokori, Chief Ayiri Emami and the State Working Committee (SWC) led by the State Chairman of the party, Prophet Jones Ode Erue.

 

It would be recalled that before this meeting, a peace parley was also held in Abuja amongst all of these leaders, where Prof. Patrick Utomi, Chief Great Ogboru and Chief Hyacinth Enuha were present in person.
