DELTA APC: Enuha, Emerhor, Ochei, others; move to unite the party

…As Ogboru, Omo-Agege shun the meeting

…Party disclaims activities of I-PAC pressure group

The leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Delta State chapter has agreed to put their differences aside and work together by unity of the party in order to position it as alternative party in Delta come 2019 election. 

The APC leaders made this resolution at a unity meeting hosted by Chief Hyacinth Enuha, an APC chieftain and leader of the Consolidated Dynamic APC (CDA) pressure group, on Sunday at his country home in Ogwashi Uku.

APC leaders at the meeting were the APC 2015 Governorship candidate of the party and current leader of the Mainstream Delta APC (MDA), Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the former speaker of Delta State house of assembly, Rt Hon Victor Ochei, the former Chairman of ACN, Chief Adolo Okotie Eboh and Dr Cairo Ojougbo, former deputy Chairman of PDP who recently led the faction and half of PDP in Delta State to APC.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the party is concerned over the continues absence of Chief Great Ogboru, leader of Light of APC pressure group and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, from all party activities and meetings lately, even when they were invited.

Recall that at the constitution of the State party caucus at Asaba, Ogboru and Omo-Agege were absent, and at a recently held state caucus meeting hosted by Dr. Ibe Kachikwu and the defection of Dr Cairo Ojougbo and his group to the party, the due were also absent thereby fueling speculations that they may be having “plan B.”

In a press statement signed by Chief Enuha, the leaders at the meeting discussed the state of APC and how to form a greater working bond between the leaders.

According to the statement, “Those present agreed to form a working alliance for greater unity of the party and to keep the alliance open for those not present to join in future.

“The meeting agreed that total unity of the party leaders presents the best opportunity for the party to take government in 2019 and as such pledged to work towards it.”

They also “resolved to continue to support and enhance the capacity of the State Exco ably led by Prophet Jones Ode Erhue in the fight to rescue Delta State from the PDP.

“It was also agreed to call a unity general meeting of MDA, CDA; supporters of Hon Ochei, Chief Adolo and the former Sherrif PDP on October 21st 2017 to be hosted by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, in a further bid to unite the followers.

In a related development, the party has cautioned its members and leaders to be wary of the activities of Mr Benjamin Ogbalor led “I-PAC” which is acting and carrying out functions of the State Exco without authorization by the State Working Committee, (SWC).

In a statement signed by the State Assistant Secretary, Comrade Chris Onodjacha, stated in part: “APC Delta State are hereby cautioned about the activities of Mr Benjamin Ogbalor and his I-PAC group and are hereby advised that the said I-PAC is not an organ of the Party and thus, not authorized to perform, or assume the function of the State Exco.

“It is illegal for them to organize conference, set up parallel Committees and undertake fund raising activities in the name of the Delta State APC.

“This act, is not only a violation of Articles 21 A (IV) of the constitution of our Party, but also a criminal offence.”

The statement also added, “The SWC therefore, has set up a Disciplinary Committee to look into the illegal activities of this body and make appropriate recommendations to it.

“APC members in the State, National and the general public are hereby advised not to deal with I-PAC or Mr Benjamin Ogbalor on behalf of APC Delta State.”
