Delta 2023: Okpara vows to industrialize Delta if elected governor

A frontline Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship hopeful in the 2023 governorship election in Delta State, Olorogun Kenneth Okpara has assured that if he is elected as the Governor of the State, he make Delta investment hub in the Niger Delta region.

The former Commissioner for Finance said that if elected he is going to partner with foreign investors to whom he is presently connected as a result of his working experience in the World Bank to Industrialize the state.

The International Financial Expert gave this assurance while fielding questions from journalists after he met with theĀ  PDP-Urhobo lobby group DC 23, Screening Committee at the Atlantic Club in Sapele during the weekend.

Okpara explained that he will provide jobs for the youths in the State by establishing 10 thousand acres of farmland in each of the 25 Local Government Councils in conjunction with the Local Council Chairmen in collaboration with foreign partners providing the necessary equipment for the programme in a bid to stem the tide of youth restiveness.

Olorogun Kenneth Okpara said he is one of the best in the race but not desperate for power, added that it will be too premature to make his Programmes Public. He however stressed that he has all it takes to take Delta State to the next level. He commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in his efforts in the development of the state.

Olorogun Okpara also commended Urhobo leaders under the DC 23, for coming up with the idea of the screening committee to enable Urhobo to speak with one voice ahead of the 2023 governorship race is concerned.

He described the Chairman of the Screening Committee, Prof.Nyerhowho Tunikari and his members as men of integrity and Urhobo patriots who want the best for their people at this critical point in time.

Olorogun Okpara further disclosed that all he prays to God to give Urhobos, indeed the people of Delta State the best and he is prepared to work genuinely with whoever is eventually chosen by the Screening Committee for the interest and unity of Urhobo Nation.
