The Labour Party state chairman, Chief Tony Ezeagwu and member representing Ethiope East in the Delta State House of Assembly, on the platform of the Party, Hon. Evance Ochuko Ivwurie have said that contrary to claims that the party has lost its soul, LP would form the next government in the state come 2019.
While addressing party leaders and members at a stakeholders meeting at Abraka, Hon. Ivwurie stated that people goes into politics to better their lot and that of their community, noting that sadly this has not being the case of the people of Ethiope East which have been denied the gains of democracy, due to lack of foresight of one man.
While explaining why he and others choose not to move to the APC, the lawmaker described the decision to move to APC by some former leaders of the party as a blind decision which will lead to another wasted years.
“We are tired of moving from one party to another, besides, as I speak with you, those who left Labour party to join APC are already regretting their move.”
“The Delta state chapter of the APC is made up of failed politicians and those who stole the state money while in PDP, are not running to APC as saints, they cannot deceive Deltans.”
Ivwurie debunking the rumour that he has moved to the PDP stated: “Those campaigning I have moved to the PDP are the once running to the APC now, but sadly they will be disappointed because they will not get the APC ticket.
“Let me set the records straight here, I am not going to PDP or APC. Anyone that is serious in wanting to be governor of the state come 2019 should not take Labour party for granted,” he added.
On his part, the LP state chairman, Chief Tony Ezeagwu while addressing members of the party at the meeting, said: “We cannot be jumping from fry pan to fire. LP in Delta State is now a strong united party as the era when one person calls the shots is over.
“What binds us together is the vision that we would form the government of Delta State comes 2019, we followed one man for 16years with nothing to show, and those who left to the APC are lost.”
The leadership and members of the party also passed vote of confidence on Chief Tony Ezeagwu and Hon. Evance Ivwurie for their effective leadership.
