An all Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship aspirant in the area, Mr. Jefferson Emeje told our correspondent that he initially waved it off as rumour, but the issue is gradually creating tension in the council area.

Going down memory lane, the chairmanship hopeful said “As a result of the accord, there has been a smooth transition of the chairmanship of the local government area, members representing the LGA in the Delta State Executive Council and that of the State House of Assembly”

The practice according to him, even after the creation of Mosogar kingdom was for the chairmanship of the local government in particular to rotate between the two power blocks and rotates among kingdoms in the area.

He added that obedience to the letters and spirit of that accord, “Barr. Sunday Uwode from Idjerhe Kingdom was elected chairman in 1999 followed by Hon. Isaac Adogbeji Udju from Oghara.

“Udju was followed by Dr. Wilson Omene from Mosogar (slot meant for Idjerhe and Mosogar) while the current Chairman, Hon.  Solomon Golley who is from Oghara will on completion of his tenure by October this year is expected to hand over to someone from Idjerhe Kingdom.”

The APC stalwart, who said he has taken his campaign to all nooks and cranny of the local government, said he was shocked beyond words over this undemocratic turn of event just because of selfish desires of few people.

He however  appeal to his numerous supporters across the State to remain calm and be prayerful just as he called on well meaning individuals in the State particularly  those from the local government  to prevail on this few politicians to have a rethink, follow path of  honour by respecting the said accord.
